We'd inadvertently left the back door open. It flew around in a bit of a panic for a short while then landed on a stained-glass Blue Jay which we have in our window. They must have spoken briefly and the glass Jay assured our little friend she was in safe hands because without any sort of struggle, I just picked her up and released her outside.
