My Luna Moth sighting in Beaverbank reminded me that last weekend during Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes Wilderness Area BioBlitz 3 species of “Giant Moths” were observed, the Luna Moth, the Polyphemus Moth and the largest of them all, the Cecropia Moth. In total, the 24-hour effort identified 858 species. For more details check out BioBlitz website at http://www.smu.ca/bioblitz/welcome.html or simply search the term BioBlitz using your favorite search engine. It was a blast helping out with the bird surveys. We could of used a whole lot more birders and a whole lot less rain but we still ended up with not a bad total of 75 species. I’ll post some of the birding highlights shortly. - Cheers, Clarence __________________________________________________________________ Looking for the perfect gift?
