Last night a stunning Luna Moth was fluttering under the lights, my first since moving to Beaverbank, however my next door neighbors tell me they saw one here last summer when it got into their shed. Another highlight was hearing 2 Soras calling in Duck Lake, which once again this year also has Pied-billed Grebes and at least one American Bittern. Most nights I can hear the bittern and the grebes from my deck so I quickly rushed home to determine if I could add Sora to my yard list. Despite a thousand or so Spring Peepers and a dozen or more trilling toads at least one Sora could be easily heard. All three marsh bird species can be heard and/or seen from the vacant lot bordering Duck Lake on the Beaverbank Road. - Cheers, Clarence
