About an hour ago I looked out the kitchen window at home, and there was an
odd looking shape perched in the top of a poplar tree. I had my scope handy,
and it was a Green Heron! I was able to digiscope it and get 3 shots before
it flew to the west - I have posted them for now in the NS-RBA Herons album,
on page 2. (I'll post them on my Pbase album in due course). I have never
seen a Green Heron in the top of a tree before, even where they are more
common. (It's the same tree that has hosted all 3 N.American accipiters in
the last 2 years). There are several small reed-fringed ponds in the
vicinity.

BTW I tried looking for the Yellow-headed Blackbird reported yesterday just
north of here, but so far no luck. (Better to stay at home and wait for the
rare birds to come to you!).
