*2009 AGM*
On the weekend of June 13 and 14th, Nature N.S. will be having its
weekend events and Annual General Meeting. I hope you all have reserved
that weekend to interact with other naturalists from around the
province. We will be meeting in the Grand Pre- Wolfville area. The AGM
will be held in the Grand Pre National Historic Site Interpretation
Centre. Doug Linzey will be sending out an invitation shortly.
Information is available on the Nature N.S. website
(http://www.naturens.ca). On the 13th N.S. Nature Trust has events in
the same area and you can combine both.

*Big Tree Project*
Nature N.S. has had the ongoing Big Tree Project for several years now.
There seems to be a decrease in sightings of our remaining majestic
trees. If you have not been to the site recently, you should look. The
webpage has an easy to browse and organize form to show what trees have
been reported so far. You can organize according to county, species, etc
even by search name. You will find that most of the trees are in Kings
County and reported by a few people. Now I know there are rumors of big
trees in the other counties of the Nova Scotia but few have submitted
data. While you are birding or canoeing, etc, take along a tape measure
and camera. When you encounter that wonder tree take time to measure its
circumference and height and take its picture.
There is an easy to use online form to enter your data which will then
can be added to the current trees.
Go to
http://www.naturens.ca/node/10 for instructions.
http://www.naturens.ca/node/12 for the trees
http://www.naturens.ca/node/14 for the online data submission

Regards,
Larry Bogan
President - Nature N.S. and big tree lover
