Hi all,

I'll be leading a warbler walk on behalf of the Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust at Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park this Sunday. We'll meet at the parking lot at 7AM. From there we will walk the loop around the woodlands between Lewis and Round Lakes and then onto the St. Margaret's Bay Trail towards Hubley Mill Lake and return.

This is the earliest date that ensures that all of our nesting warblers have returned. The Canada Warbler is the last to arrive and the first to leave. I'm pleased to report that I encountered three Canada Warblers earlier this week, two were wandering about and one is definitely on territory. I was able to see this bird from the circle road as it sang and flited high up in the trees beside the road. It is the most musical of our nesting warblers with a short bubbling song. So far this year I've found 18 warbler species in this wonderful little park.

The originally planned Saturday outing is cancelled due to the nasty weather prediction. The weather on Sunday is so much more promising! Bring water, insect repellent and sun block.

Hans
