I took Mom down to do some birding at Canard Pond (not many ducks) and to
watch chimney swifts in Wolfville. At 8:44, we arrived just in time to see
at least ten swifts circling the chimney. The number grew to 20 +. Just
after 9:50, 45+ swifts plunged inside in clusters. The last three
stragglers circled a few times before finally entering it. The time was
8:53. It was cool and windy. It was Mom's first swifts in more than 40
years and also her first time seeing them go inside the chimney. We had a
lot of swifts and swallows in Ottawa (west end) before our transfer to
Halifax. Just my opinion. I think watchers should stand quietly and watch
birds go in.

Cheers, liz
