Coastal Flora - Botany for the Seriously Curious, Harrison Lewis Centre
This 6-day workshop takes participants beyond popular field guides, teaching
skills required for collection, preservation and identification of native
plants. Field trips to a variety of coastal
and inland habitats guided by two professional botanists will introduce
students to a broad range of local plants including trees, shrubs,
herbaceous flowering plants, spore-bearing plants such as ferns and fern
allies, various mosses, liverworts, and lichens.
Instructors: Pierre Taschereau, Ph.D, former Curator of Botany at the Nova
Scotia Museum, and later, Asst. Professor in the Dept. of
Biology, Dalhousie University, and Amy Witkowski, BS (Biology), Masters of
Science candidate, and Herbarium Assistant Curator, N.B.
Museum of Natural Sciences (Limited, 12 participants.)
