Hi Fritz, I didn't expect to find you here, though it's no surprise, I know
you are an avid birder. I'll drop in when I'm down North this summer. -Noel
Taussig

Subject: [NatureNS] possible dark adult snow goose

Hi All,
Yesterday I had a report of an odd goose; possible a Barnacle Goose; with
some Canada Geese on the inner part of South Harbour Beach. I checked it out
today and although I had only some long scope views it appeared to be a dark
adult Snow Goose.
The goose was about 2/3 the size of a Canada Goose with a dark
gray/black body, white underside and lower rump (under tail coverts), white
head with dark line from the back up to, but not including, the crown and a
pink/orange bill that appeared a little shorter than the Canada Geese. The
short video I was able to capture is only useful to determine size, in
comparison to Canada Geese, and basic colours.
I will try in a day or two to get better video and more details. If
anyone thinks it might be something else I'd be interested in knowing as my
Goose ID skills leave a lot to be desired.
I also noted three three Piping Plovers on the outer beach.
    All the best.
                      Fritz McEvoy
