Yesterday brought out the odd wood violets in our yard as well as a few bluets....lots of tiny wasps back on the heath today but none yesterday. Heat must slow them down. Swallows are making babies out there today and already the grackles and starlings have figured how to hang on the front of the houses. Steve is going to make faces to make the hole somewhat deeper so maybe necks won't reach in. We have three houses "booked" and an extra bird is advertising the one in the front yard. Maybe we will have another lift off on July 1st. Last year the barn swallows had 10 babies (cared for by multiple adults) lined up on the barn roof the same time as the tree swallows fledged. We got to see it from the BBQ next door. All very exciting. Next morning all was quiet and everyone was gone. Marg Millard, White Point in Queens http://margmillard.ca
