Lois, I'm perplexed how Pratt's piece could be considered "good" by any
stretch of the imagination. To take one example of his rocky reasoning, he
writes: "Moreover, the zealotry of many adherents [of a belief in global
warming] is frighteningly reminiscent of the Spanish Inquisition, fascism
and other movements designed to take control and silence dissent. Vicious
personal attacks on those who raise valid scientific questions infect the
blogosphere, including likening them to Holocaust deniers." Pratt objects to
"personal attacks" and comparisons between gw-deniers and "Holocaust
deniers," but only after he himself has drawn a comparison between "many
adherents..." and villains of both the Spanish Inquisition and Fascist
movements. That no editor caught such blatant logical carelessness and
double standards doesn't speak well of the Professional Engineers of
Saskatchewan magazine.
