Also, a few of you have written to me "off list" to ask for help with insect or spider IDs, or with your questions about camera gear for macro photography, etc... I hope that no one will mind if I now ask for assistance through the natureNS venue. Last autumn, my husband passed away after a brief illness. For many years, our intention had been to sell our farm here in Ontario and possibly relocate to Nova Scotia after retirement. In the past, we had spent quite a bit of time in various parts of Nova Scotia - usually hiking and photographing insects - and always enjoyed our extended stays. After a good deal of thought, I've pretty much decided to go ahead with selling my farm and relocating as per our original plan. Probable areas of interest would be the valley, or maybe somewhere on the neck, although we also spent quite a bit of time hiking around Economy (Thomas Cove, etc..) and loved that area as well. If all goes well, I hope to make a trip east to do some scouting around in May. What I'm wondering is if there are any naturalists on this list from any of the above-mentioned areas, who would be willing to correspond a bit "off list" to discuss topics such as the merits of one location over another (access to hiking trails, natural areas, etc...) as well as anything that I should probably be aware of when looking for a place to settle down (such as proposed industrial or housing development or expansion that I might prefer to avoid).
