An upcoming event some folks may be interested in: Sunday, April 19, Halifax Field Naturalists – Bay of Fundy Minerals Join Ronnie Van Dommelen, former president of the Nova Scotia Mineral and Gem Society, on a walk exploring some of Nova Scotia’s minerals. We will walk the beach and discuss the minerals and geology of the region. Hiking or rubber boots are recommended. • Contact: 475-1129, hfn.programme@gmail.com • Time and place: 1:00 p.m. at the picnic area parking lot on the southwestern end of the bridge over the creek in Cheverie, Hants County. From Halifax, follow Hwy 101. Take exit 4 (St. Croix), then Hwy 1 towards Newport Corner. Turn left onto Hwy 215 to Brooklyn. Turn right onto route 14 for a short length (the 215 and 14 become one for awhile), then left again onto 215. Continue on to Cheverie. The trip is between 1 and 1½ hours from Halifax. • This easy hike is 2-3 hours long.
