Index of Subjects A male Pileated has been frequenting our feeders all winter. My wife was "concerned" that he didn't have a mate. Today a female Pileated came to the feeders...no sign of the male!! We have a lone redpoll now. Such individuals usually stay longer in the spring than flocks do. Flock leaders would decide when to leave whereas an individual is contented where it is with easily available food. Angus
