The Nova Scotia Migration Count Website is http://www.hanstoom.com/NSMC.html and provides everything you'll need to participate in this year's count, including county and individual checklists. If your county has no coordinator or if you don't know if there is a coordinator then just send your tally directly to me and I will include it or send it on to your county coordinator for their review and inclusion. As a bonus this year a full moon occurs on our count evening so owling should be excellent. Individual birders and small groups will likely find the online reporting system the most convenient. Use online form http://www.hanstoom.com/Report.html to submit individual or group reports of regular, feeder and night-time observations. Feeder watchers can use the form http://www.hanstoom.com/Feeder.html, and as always all reports can also be mailed. International Migratory Birds Day, http://www.birdday.org is also celebrated on this date in many jurisdictions. Eventually we will consider sending our 20 plus years of records to the International Migratory Birds Day data base of bird sightings. If you don't wish to submit data using the online forms there are three other forms on the website useable on your home computer or for hand tallying and mailing. Use whichever form or technique you are most comfortable with. On the NSMC website you will find the following forms if you choose not to use the online reporting method: NSMC Field Form: This is the preferred form for e-mailing results to me. It is an excel file and can be attached to your e-mail. This form can be used by county coordinators or individuals. It can be printed on 8.5" by 14" sheet and mailed, if you choose. NSMC Feeder Watchers Form: This form is for use by feeder watchers. It is an excel file and can be attached to your e-mail. This form can be used by county coordinators or individuals. It prints on a single 8.5" by 11" sheet and can be mailed. NSMC County Coordinators Form: This big excel form is only useful for county coordinators who wish to collate input from lots of participants. It is too large to print. Try to get all the results submitted to me by June 8. Please distribute this mailing to other nature groups that may have an interest in participating in this count. Enjoy your outing!
