I observed 4 Comm. Ravens flying together over our house and surrounding area today. Occasionally one would do a 'roll' or other aerial acrobatic manoeuvre. Suddenly there was a 5th Raven. Two (a pair?) took off together in one direction. The other original 2 chased the intruder round and round in huge circles. Then 2 locked together, the 3rd joined in, and all 3 tumbled down together in a big black ball and crashed in the woods! After awhile I saw one Raven fly slowly away from the direction of the crash. Then there were 3 again, 2 chasing 1, and 2 were missing some primary feathers. Eventually I had to go inside, so I don't know who won in the end, but when they crashed I thought all 3 were done for! Wish I could have got it all on camera. Lois Codling, L. Sackville
