In either case.....I hope both of them survived the aftermath. Ive seen that particular maneuver described as territorial and/or courtship...only the birds know for sure ;-) Take care :) Helene Helene Van Doninck DVM Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre RR#1 Brookfield Nova Scotia Canada B0N1C0 hvandoninck@eastlink.ca www.cwrc.net 1-902-893-0253 -----Original Message----- From: James W. To make a long story short, he had 2 mature bald eagles locked together in his yard for HOURS! From the story Im assuming they locked in the sky, fell, and then because both of them were no doubt struggling they couldnt/wouldnt let go. Each were wounded and the home owner tried to separate them..carefully...but I know his presence probably made them just grip each other more tightly. Once they separated, one flew off weakly and the other ran into the woods, i enquired about wing injuries but difficult to tell. He will watch for them and let me know if one is grounded. Its funny, the veterinarian/rehabilitator side of me was thinking.....wow....poor birds....are either of them hurt, and can I help? The naturalist/bird geek side of me was thinking COOL!....so amazing to see that and did you get a picture ( no he didnt..I asked)! Will let you know if I hear more. I generally try not to interfere with natural behaviours, but if one is injured I will certainly try to help. :) Helene Helene Van Doninck DVM Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre RR#1 Brookfield Nova Scotia Canada B0N1C0 hvandoninck@eastlink.ca www.cwrc.net 1-902-893-0253 --Boundary_(ID_jICbBy5HkEwBa+EfCtVUSg) Content-type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=us-ascii"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16809" name=GENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY style="WORD-WRAP: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space"> <DIV><FONT face=Arial color=#0000ff size=2> <DIV><FONT face=Arial color=#0000ff size=2><SPAN class=781045211-29032009>HI Jim, yeah, I thought about that immediately after I hit send....isnt that always the way?
