Hello All.

A few days on CBC radio, I heard a lady make a comment re: turning
off the lights for an hour on Sat. eve. Her opinion was that an
hour of having no lights wasn't going to make a difference. (
condensed version ) My interpretation of her version is that , no, an
hour of no lights may not make a difference today or tomorrow or next
year. It is more of an awareness campaign. Instead of wearing a free
sticky given out to elem. students with no explanation or lead up
from an elem teacher to pressed for time to fit in all of the
curriculum objectives, the entire population of the Earth is being
given the opportunity to turn off all elec. for one hour.

My connection to Sherman's e mail is that imagine if you could see
side by side shots, taken over many years, of areas of the Earth
taken during the hour of "lights out". It would be interesting to
compare the amount of light pollution. Which in my mind would be more
than enough alone to prove the point that we need to lessen our
dependence on electricity , fossil fuels to supply that demand, and
the need to use up any more of the Earth's naturual resources.
