Around noon today in Port Williams, Peter Richard and I saw an impressive s=
pectacle: several hundred Canada Geese floating on the rising tide of the C=
ornwallis River. Perhaps resting after a flight? We had noted several V-sha=
ped flocks of geese flying south across the dykelands as we drove from Kent=
ville to Port Williams. There were numerous signs of spring during our day i=
n the Valley: four or five grackles on a telephone wire; crows carrying nes=
ting material; song sparrows and juncos singing; dandelions blooming in a s=
heltered spot at the base of an Acadia University building. At Acadia, we v=
isited the Harriet Irving Arboretum, which is a great place to go for the w=
inter-weary. Labrador Tea is in bloom in their Nova Scotia habitats garden.=
