Unique opportunity

Retaining or acquiring public access to rivers and lakes, whether across =
J.D. Irving-owned lands or others in southwestern Nova Scotia, is =
critical if we Nova Scotians are to continue to enjoy our natural =
resources as canoeists, kayakers, anglers and hikers. We must also =
guarantee the public's access to centuries-old portage routes and =
historic sites, all of which are vital parts of our heritage.
  =20
As one who has written extensively on paddling in southeast Nova =
Scotia (Paddling the Tobeatic) and as a founding member of Southwest =
paddlers Association, I implore our government and municipal leaders to =
look to the future and embrace a unique opportunity. The Buy Back Nova =
Scotia Coalition has raised an immensely important issue. Find a way to =
make it happen.
