The WESTERN KINGBIRD discovered by Laurel Banks and reported by Patricia
Chalmers was there about noon today, shortly after I got Patricia's message.

It appeared suddenly on a large deciduous tree on the property of "The Pebble"
B&B on Armview Terrace at the corner of Armview Ave. When I took my eyes off it
to get my camera, it disappeared. I think it may have gone into the thick yews
alongside the house - any berries left?. Western and other large flycatchers
eat much fruit during their winter residency in the tropics. The owner of the
B&B knows about it, though hasn't seen it, and seems tolerant of scrutinizing
birders.

This is far from the first winter record of this bird and, in fact, there are
three past CBC records, one in W. End Halifax, not far from this one.

Cheers, Ian McLaren
