The number of Baltimore Orioles visiting my backyard feeders has grown to 8 this week - it is quite extraordinary to look out and see 8 orioles at once in a small back yard. The Yellow-breasted Chat is also around through most of the day. And today a female Red-winged Blackbird visited for a while, around noon.

Thanks to Pat McKay and Alan Covert, I am now well supplied with feeding cages (to keep the Starlings away from the oriole food) and mealworms, so both orioles and chat stand a much better chance of surviving.

Cheers,
Susann Myers
