Here are the highlights: Grand Desert: Snowy Owl -- an immature female, perhaps the same bird reported at Story Head by Anders. Story Head is just a short distance away as the owl flies. Savannah Sparrow -- 2 Surf Scoter -- 2 Three Fathom Harbour: Lark Sparrow -- at the mid-point of Causeway Road, where it was originally located Dec. 1. Photos were taken this time, and have been posted to the NS-RBA photo pages. Black-bellied Plover (1) and Dunlin (1) -- on the mud flats at low tide in the middle of the harbour Northern Harrier (1), Rough-legged Hawk (1), Snowy Owl (1) -- all on Wedge Island Dartmouth: We could not locate the Brewer's Blackbird, nor the Lark Sparrow and House Wren at the foot of Jamieson St., nor the Eastern Towhee at Hastings Ave. We did find the following, however: Snow Bunting -- at the foot of Jamieson St. Savannah Sparrow -- at the foot of Nivens Ave. Gadwall -- at Tufts Cove Eurasian Wigeon -- at Tufts Cove Point Pleasant Park: Between 1430 and 1530, along the pines adjacent Black Rock Beach parking lot, we observed the following: Orange-crowned Warbler -- 1 Pine Warbler -- 3 or 4 Palm Warbler -- 1 eastern race Fox Sparrow -- 1 ---------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blake Maybank Spring compiler, Atlantic Provinces Region, "North American Birds" author, "Birding Sites of Nova Scotia" http://maybank.tripod.com/BSNS.htm 144 Bayview Drive White's Lake, Nova Scotia, B3T 1Z1, Canada maybank@ns.sympatico.ca (902) 852-2077 --=====================_33222015==.ALT Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"

9 December 2008

Hello Everyone;

Don MacNeill and I birded between Chezzetcook Inlet and Halifax on 9 Dec., and we enjoyed a fine day's birding.
