I stopped by Big Island this morning and found a Snowy Owl perched on an old fallen tree in the dunes, facing the Northumberland about 90% of the way down the Big Island causeway (assuming heading toward Big Island). I watched the bird for about 45 minutes and was lucky enough to witness him produce two pellets before leaving for another perch further down the beach. Photos: http://chimera.stfx.ca/aves/index.php?species=Snowy_Owl In addition, there were 4 Hooded Mergansers inside the causeway (2m, 2f) and 8 Horned Grebes and 1 Red-throated Loon outside.
