Yesterday, Wednesday December 3 2008, I was in Lockhart Ryan Park in
New Minas with some school students at 2:00 pm and saw two Broad Wing
hawks soaring relatively low above the softball field. Both appeared to
be juvenile plumaged, dark wing tips, light tail ( not dark banded as
in adult ), the bodies and under wing were light without the belly band
of a red tail and the proportions were not of the red tail. In the sun
and with the mild weather they were soaring peacefully over the field
and then soared west along the ridge bordering the Cornwallis River.
