Hi All; On Saturday, 25 October, there were numerous Adelgid flies in our garden, and in the early cool temperatures of the morning they were resting on leaves of Hay-scented Fern. This gave me an opportunity to attempt to do some macro photography on these tiny insects. It was quite a challenge as they are miniscule, and there was a strong breeze moving the leaves. Also, as the morning warmed the insects quickly started flying about. But I managed a few acceptable shots. You may view the photos here: http://photobucket.com/maybank-current I am guessing these are a type of Adelgid fly, based on earlier discussions on NatureNS. But I don't know which species. Regardless, they are cute, a light powder-blue colour. If anyone can venture a guess to species I'd be most appreciative. I did a search on the internet, but was not able to locate something similar.
