Index of Subjects We have had the odd Grackle stay the winter here in our yard. They visit the feeder and hang out at the seed cake mostly. I know they can make it through some long periods of heavy cold temperatures to warmer times and the return of others but then what happens I do not know. I saw a solitary one checking out the grapevine the other day but not since. http://margmillard.ca ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gayle MacLean" <duartess2003@yahoo.ca> To: "naturelist" <naturens@chebucto.ns.ca> Sent: Monday, November 03, 2008 9:55 AM Subject: [NatureNS] Question re: One Lone Grackle Hello All, Over the past week or so, there has been one lone Grackle that appears to be staying in the neighbourhood and is not with any flock. I haven't seen any flocks of Grackles here in Dartmouth for a week or so, anyway. Perhaps it is because it has, now, no flock to migrate with or it could be old? It appears healthy. It seems to spend of its days sitting in the neighbours eaves-trough on the edge of their roof, when not at the feeders. Do the stragglers eventually 'hit the road/air' & go south, on their own, or, end up taking their chances by over-wintering? Thanks, Gayle MacLean __________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! Canada Toolbar: Search from anywhere on the web, and bookmark your favourite sites.
