Hi all- Took some friends from France to Hartlan Point in the late
afternoon. Still a few shorebirds. We saw 4 Greater Yellowlegs and 1
Lesser, then two more Greaters arrived. There was 1 Black bellied
Plover, 4 Ruddy Turnstones (one in great colour), three Sandpipers (
probably Western ?) and 1 White rumped Sandpiper, (pruning, feeding,
flying). Savannah Sparrows were in the usual places along the beach.
There were still a number of Ladies' tresses ( small white orchids) in
bloom there on the trail near the power with the No Trespassing sign. On
Friday I saw 6 American Pipits there, but none today.
We went on to Laurencetown to see the fabulous surf breaking along the
beach.
If I were in Shel County, I'd have been at Baccaro. Cheers, Joan
