Hi all
It was a very nice day on Big I. today with calm winds and sunny breaks. Birding was so so but with a bit of digging, 70 species tallied. There were > 100 Robins and good numbers of sparrows. Two new fall visitors for me were 2 Lapland Longspur and 3 Horned Lark. Other birds in numbers were 36 Common Loons, 50+ Common Tern, 190 Bonaparte's Gull, 51 Great Blue Heron, 400 Canada Geese, and 235 Surf Scoter. There were 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 3 Blue-headed Vireos, 3 Horned Grebe, 1 Red-necked Grebe, 1 A. Pipit and 1 Brown Creeper. A Black Guillemot was noted, not a common bird in Pictou Co. maybe from Pictou I.

Warblers present: Myrtle-40, Common Yellowthroat-9, Parula-3, Magnolia-1, Nashville-1, and Black-throated Green-1

Shorebirds present: Black-bellied Plover-35, Golden Plover-1, Semipalmated Plover-38, Greater Yellowlegs-4, Whimbrel-1, Semipalmated Sandpiper-6, Pectoral Sandpiper-7, White-rumped Sandpiper-1, Least Sandpiper-1, Dunlin-28

Sparrows:Song-28, Swamp-5, White-throated-33, Savanah -58, Chipping-2, Junco-37, Lapland Longspur-2

Raptors; 4 N. Harrier, 1 Osprey, 1 Merlin, 5 Bald Eagle

cheers
Ken
