This evening (Sept. 23) you can watch for a nice, high, bright pass
of the Space Station (ISS) , coming out of the SW about 7:38 p.m., at
its peak , up 70 degrees in the SSE at 7:40. You should be able to
follow it until about 7:43 as it disappears toward the ENE. For those
east of Avonport it will be higher. For those west of Avonport it
will be lower. Its overhead track is just off shore, closely
paralleling the NS coastline.

The ATV, a supply vehicle that was attached to the Space Station,
(detached from the ISS Sept.5th and has gradually been moved well out
of range of the ISS) makes its visible pass (not quite as bright)
across the NNW about 8:47 up about 32 degrees for Avonport., right
through the Big Dipper Handle. Its overhead track takes it over the
Gaspe and Anticosti IslandSo it will be quite high in northern NB.

I've learned that the ATV is being deorbited ( http://www.news-about-
space.org/story/139579472.html) on the 29th of Sept. when it will end
its existence as a bright fireball over the Pacific Ocean. That
puzzles me as I thought hat it was to be a reusable supply vehicle
for the Space Station but now I see it is a disposable garbage
dumping operation.

Sherman
