Peter MacLeod used to use puffed wheat which floats and he would mix it with fish oil. He is the only one I know who would do this as it is a terrible concoction when travelling on a boat.

  Hi all

A few weeks ago, I was talking to Penny (Roy) Graham who operates Mariner Cruises and asked her if we could use Chum which attracts jaegers, skuas, kittiwakes, etc - recalling my first NSBS pelagic trip which was really exciting. We had kittiwakes and jaegers flying up close to us so it was something we would never forget. Lots of photographic opportunities, too. Penny/ Roy would not use chum if we share the boat with tourists/ nonbirders. If we charter a boat, then we would be able to use chum and chase birds wherever we wish. Last year, we used bread, which was ineffective. What do you think? Thanks. liz
