Dr. Tom Herman's colleague and friend Chan Eng Heng has arrived in =
Wolfville. Professor Chan is a well known figure in the Asian =
conservation world, where she has worked tirelessly for the past few =
decades promoting the conservation of sea turtles and river terrapins. =
The extinction crisis facing turtles in Asia is daunting; as a result =
the vast majority of Asian turtle species is at risk. Professor Chan has =
taken a multi-facetted approach to addressing this issue, combining =
science with stewardship. Tom has scheduled a public seminar for Monday =
evening, September 8 in the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre =
Auditorium in Wolfville at 7:30 pm. Her seminar title will be:
"Conserving marine turtles and river terrapins in Malaysia through =
research, local community participation and public outreach".

You will find the topic very interesting and Professor Chan very =
engaging. You can find additional info about her work on her website: =
http://staff.umt.edu.my/~ehchan/index.html
