On Thursday, during a hike at Shut-In Island (St. Margaret's Bay), we
saw a Gannet. Ten days earlier my son saw there (at very close range)
a full-grown but immature Bald Eagle. We have seen mature Bald Eagles
several times near Hubley Cove.

Also yesterday at Shut-In, we observed a Great Black-backed Gull
flying with a Green Crab in its beak, which is nothing unusual, except
that this gull was hotly pursued by a Double-crested Cormorant. I
don't think that I have ever seen a cormorant tangling with a gull.
The cormorant gave up when the gull reached the island.
