It was wet at first=2C but we did not let the weather dampen our spi= rits. I ended earlier than normal and did not make it any further than Fau= xburg this year=2C but that was because of all the bird activity that we fo= und at every stop. In all=2C we observed roughly 40 species. Mahone Bay p= roduced: =20 Common Merganser 9 Belted Kingfisher 1 Common Tern 2 Herring Gull 1 Blue Jay 1 Song Sparrow 6 Double-crested Cormorant 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler 5 American Redstart 1 Black-capped Chickadee 5 Northern Parula 3 Black & White Warbler 2 American Robin 2 Red-eyed Vireo 3 Downy Woodpecker 1 Ovenbird 1 Magnolia Warbler 2 Yellow warbler 1 Ruby-throated Hummingbird 2 Ring-necked Pheasant 1 Chestnut-sided warbler 1 Common Grackle 9 Mourning Dove 1 Rock Pigeon 1 Mallard 1 =20 Long Hill =20 Played mobbing tape and to my surprise a barred owl came in and started to = call. Another barred owl responsed and they kept calling for quite some ti= me. =20 Barred Owl 2 Swamp Sparrow 1 American Redstart 2 Black-capped Chickadee 8 American Goldfinch 1 White-throated Sparrow 2 Red-eyed Vireo 4 Yellow-rumped Warbler 3 Song Sparrow 3 Dark-eyed Junco 1 Black & White warbler 1 Veery 1 American Robin 1 Red-breasted Nuthatch 1 =20 There were a lot more birds in this location than I wrote down. It was rai= ning and wet and I was a bit lax as a result. =20 Blockhouse - Spoke to a local who reports as many as six northern cardinals= at her feeder signifying breeding success this year. =20 European Starling 1 Blue Jay 4 Mourning Dove 2 Song Sparrow 4 American Robin 1 Northern Cardinal 2 Red-eyed Vireo 1 Common Yellowthroat 1 Northern Parula 3 Black-capped Chickadee 3 Purple Finch 1 Ruby-throated Humming bird 1 =20 Station Road=2C Maitland =20 American Crow 3 Mourning Dove 1 Purple Finch 3 (young barely able to fly and being fed by adult) Alder Flycatcher 1 Swamp Sparrow 2 Common Loon 1 American Goldfinch 1 Common Yellowthroat 1 Red-eyed Vireo 3 Wood Duck 4 Ruby-throated Hummingbird 1 American Robin 1 Hermit Thrush 1 =20 Fauxburg Trail =20 Black-capped Chickadee 11 Red-eyed Vireo 8 Black & White Warbler 8 Eastern Wood Pewee 2 (Bird in open about 6 feet away gave excellent views) Magnolia Warbler 4 Downy Woodpecker 3 American Redstart 6 American Robin 1 Canada Warbler 1 Swamp Sparrow 1 Northern Parula 6 Common Yellowthroat 2 Gray Catbird 1 Black-throated Green Warbler 2 Blackburnian Warbler 2 Hairy Woodpecker 1 Chestnut-sided warbler 1 =20 (One unknown - Possibly a Baltimore oriole from the description and also my= brief look) =20 Hard to keep track of the birds present and numbers as there were so many b= irds there. At all locations I know that I did not do the numbers justice.= =20 =20 It was nice to have one birder with us from Scotland and for to have so man= y birds about at all of our stops.
