Cherry Hill Beach area has a combination of salt marsh, salt marsh ponds, muddy intertidal flats (good for waders) and sand beach. The nearby forested areas have a good diversity of land birds. Specialties of the area include migrating waders, Piping Plovers (may be gone by mid August) and, occasionally, vagrant herons and gulls.
