That's my opinion as well - that it may be an Ocean Pout (Macrozoarces
americanus (Schneider)) - not that you are an armchair
ichthyologist ... ;->.

The skeleton Bernard has photographed is generally ocean pout like
appearance in terms of the size and position of the mouth, the size
and dimensions of the skull and gill openings, the apparent shape of
the tail and position of the termination of the dorsal fin, etc.

It's difficult to make out the shape of the snout since the upper jaw
has become everted. I think the eye sockets on the skull are too large
for it to be an anglerfish. I'm not sure what the teeth of an ocean
pout look like, but there is a good photograph of one with its mouth
open illustrating the dimensions of the jaws and the size of the eyes
at:

This is a common species in this area occurring from the intertidal
zone down to 180 m.

My $0.02.

Cheers!

Chris
