Just so you know it was the reporter who 'got it wrong'. We were NOT = turning the toadlets around back to the wetland. We were moving them = from the wetland/pond area across the road to the forested uplands. I = wish media would hire content editors to fix spelling mistakes, = contradictions, and grammar before publishing. They are printing a = correction but it's too late.=20 Unfortunately we cannot control what reporters write nor their grammar = and spelling mistakes. In this case, it is the forested 'uplands' (hills) surrounding the = lake and wetland, but we wouldn't necessarily call them hills out here. To be certain, = regional differences exists regarding the definition of hill throughout Canada and the US. In = this case 'uplands' make more sense since 'hill' means different things to different people.=20 Over 33,000 toadlets were crossed safely over the road. One young = Red-legged Frog and several Pacific Treefrogs (synonym Pacific Chorus Frog) were also helped = across.=20 Would you please be so kind as to post this information to the list, = thank you Lisa Fox ------=_NextPart_000_0084_01C8F305.48CFE7B0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.6000.16674" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY=20 style=3D"WORD-WRAP: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; = -webkit-line-break: after-white-space"=20 bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial>Can't resist this one... maybe those media = people are=20 thinking PC so toadlets sound a lot better than tadpoles = ;-) I=20 had a cartoon (from Punch) of a toad which thought his picture as a = tadpole was=20 so ugly. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial>It is the same thing with terminology we = prefer today=20 - not only in science but in many other fields including education, = sociology,=20 and psychology. </FONT><FONT face=3DArial>We have to continue to = educate copy=20 editors and writers to be consciously aware. </FONT><BR=20 class=3DApple-interchange-newline></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial>Cheers, liz</FONT></DIV> <DIV> <DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE type=3D"cite"> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px"><FONT style=3D"FONT: 12px Helvetica; COLOR: = #000000"=20 face=3DHelvetica color=3D#000000 size=3D3><B>From: </B></FONT><FONT=20 style=3D"FONT: 12px Helvetica" face=3DHelvetica size=3D3><A=20 = href=3D"mailto:lisa@fraservalleyconservancy.ca">lisa@fraservalleyconserva= ncy.ca</A></FONT></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px"><FONT style=3D"FONT: 12px Helvetica; COLOR: = #000000"=20 face=3DHelvetica color=3D#000000 size=3D3><B>Date: </B></FONT><FONT=20 style=3D"FONT: 12px Helvetica" face=3DHelvetica size=3D3>July 30, 2008 = 9:01:16 PM=20 ADT</FONT></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px"><FONT style=3D"FONT: 12px Helvetica; COLOR: = #000000"=20 face=3DHelvetica color=3D#000000 size=3D3><B>To: </B></FONT><FONT=20 style=3D"FONT: 12px Helvetica" face=3DHelvetica size=3D3><A=20 href=3D"mailto:jimwolford@eastlink.ca">jimwolford@eastlink.ca</A>, <A=20 href=3D"mailto:shermw@xcountry.tv">shermw@xcountry.tv</A></FONT></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px"><FONT style=3D"FONT: 12px Helvetica; COLOR: = #000000"=20 face=3DHelvetica color=3D#000000 size=3D3><B>Subject: </B></FONT><FONT = style=3D"FONT: 12px Helvetica" face=3DHelvetica size=3D3><B>Western = Toad migration=20 post</B></FONT></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MIN-HEIGHT: 14px; MARGIN: 0px"><FONT = face=3DArial></FONT><BR></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px">Hi Folks,<SPAN=20 class=3DApple-converted-space> </SPAN></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MIN-HEIGHT: 14px; MARGIN: 0px"><FONT = face=3DArial></FONT><BR></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px">Came across your postings on the net about = the=20 Western Toad toadlet migration happening in</DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px">Chilliwack.</DIV> <DIV style=3D"MIN-HEIGHT: 14px; MARGIN: 0px"><FONT = face=3DArial></FONT><BR></DIV> <DIV style=3D"MARGIN: 0px">Just so you know it was the reporter who = 'got it=20 wrong'.<SPAN class=3DApple-converted-space> </SPAN>We were NOT = turning the=20 toadlets around <SPAN class=3DApple-style-span=20 style=3D"-webkit-text-stroke-width: -1">back to the wetland.
