My Quest "ecotour" down there to the Antarctic Peninsula in the 1990s included a bus-tour in Tierra del Fuego National Park? of Argentina? As in so many horror stories around the world, the beaver was introduced to Patagonia/Argentina in the hope that a fur industry could be developed there, BUT of course (like the brush-tailed opossum in New Zealand) the beaver proved to be instead a huge pest with even larger potential for harm, in both Argentina and Chile for starters and then who knows how far they might spread?
