--Boundary_(ID_jh3DRQvrD/VxB4brjGu2yg) Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT I agree with Andy and recommend the Audubon Field Guide to Insects and Spiders, but I can't resist also pointing out the excellent Golden Guide to Spiders and their kin. This spider guide is for a lot more than eastern Canada (same for the Audubon Guide), but it introduces all the major groups of spiders in living colour plates and shows a lot of diversity of species -- bonuses are related groups like ticks, scorpions, pseudoscorpions, etc., plus a lot of great stuff on the biology of spiders in general. These Golden Guides are widely available in bookstores and sell for about $6.50 or so -- the series of Golden Guides is still being written and updated and there are several dozens of titles. Check them out -- they look like they are for kids, but they really are for kids of all ages!
