Everyone must know by now, that Nature N.S. is collecting infomation on the biggest trees in our province. The webpage is at
http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/Environment/FNSN/big_trees/trees.html
OR just go to http://www.naturens.ca and click on the Big Trees link.

My latest contribution is a nice sized Red Maple north or Berwick with a N.S. Forest Technician score of 113 (diameter of 0.94 m). There must be larger ones so I challenge anyone to find a bigger one.
See this one's information at
http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/Environment/FNSN/big_trees/RM-01.html

If you can't find a red maple, there are many species of trees not entered in our collection .... AND... we are collecting from every county in the province.... SO ... if find a big Red Maple or other species in your county. Try something other that Red Oak or White Pine.

All you need to do is take a 12 ft tape measure with you and a camera. See instructions on the page.

The large Eastern Hemlocks in the Berwick Campgrounds need to be measured.

Cheers,
Larry
