Hi there, For the last year or so I have observed with concern the state of several Scotch Pine trees in Bedford. They are in the yard of my parents' neighbours, and something is killing them. Their leaders seem to be affected first, becoming twisted and brown, and gradually the whole tree looks disfigured and sickly, and the needles turn brown and fall off. The first tree has died and another one now is affected. These neighbours keep to themselves and I haven't been able to go over and investigate, but I am wondering if the trees are being attacked by some insect. Other conifers seem quite healthy. I'm concerned because my parents have a number of mature Scotch Pines along their property line, which it would be a pity to lose. Are their any know pests that specialize in Scotch Pines? Any ideas out there? Cheers, Patricia L. Chalmers Halifax
