Do you recall seeing Orion in the January and February's sky? =20
Today, just above Orion's "head", Sun reaches its highest point in =20
our sky. Officially Sun is in the "toe" of Castor, one of the Gemini =20=

Twins, not far from the M 35 star cluster referred to as the Jewel =20
Box. However, I like to relate its position to Orion because Orion so =20=

dominates the winter night sky. When Sun keeps company with Orion, =20
IT MUST BE SUMMER!

The magic spot in the sky that switches the season to summer is =20
Right Ascension 6h 00 min, Declination +23.44=B0 (that's the longitude =20=

and latitude of a point on a star map). It marks the very top of the =20=

hill that Sun has appeared to climb since December 21, 2007. Sun =20
will reach that spot, without doing anything unusual, this evening at =20=

21:00 h ADT. Associated with this event is a little sad note: =20
after Sun reaches that point, it
appears to begin its downhill journey. Fortunately the change =20
happens very slowly at first. HAVE A HAPPY, ENJOYABLE SUMMER.

Here is the link to the daily ANALEMMA I keep online" http://=20
web.mac.com/sherm39/iWeb/Site/analemma1.html
It shows Sun's position relative to the stars. It is always linked =20
from this index page: http://web.mac.com/sherm39/iWeb/Site/=20
