JUNE 14, 2008 - On tonight's (June 14/08) late CBC-TV news (Saturday
Report) there was an item featuring WHITE RAVENS in B.C. There is a
"family" of 5 fledged young ravens, and 2 of them are apparently
twins and not only all white, with flesh-coloured legs and beaks, but
BLUE-EYED and thus not fully albino. In addition, at least the white
ones are quite approachable for close observations and photographs.
The CBC report had excellent video footage at close range.

I know that blue eyes are normal in American crows in nestlings and
fledglings, and the eye colour gradually changes to brown over a few
months? So I guess the same is true for ravens?

The location is at Errington, B.C., which is near Parksville and
Qualicum, northwest of Nanaimo, on southeastern Vancouver Island. I
taped that report via my VCR.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
