Hi All,
A few good observations at the feeders today. The most interesting was, =
what I believe is, a 1st year Blue Grosbeak. It appears small for this spec=
ies (slightly larger than a Purple Finch) and I didn't see the rusty wing b=
ars. The breast was spotted (barred) but it had the correct beak and was di=
ning on sunflower seeds. I thought I had videoed the bird but when I checke=
d it out tonight I had failed to record it. If it returns, I will try agai=
n tomorrow. Other sightings include a new Baltimore Oriole; a 1st. year mal=
e, I think. There was also a Common Redpoll & Bobolinks.
There is an obese female Purple Finch at the feeders; something I haven'=
t noted before. She is about twice as big as the other finches, has a diffi=
cult time cracking the sunflower seeds and is reluctant to fly. I will post=
photos when I get them downloaded. All the best.
