Hi,

Allison and I have been at our new place in Maryvale now for almost three
weeks, and we finally have space to put up feeders. It was interesting to
watch the progression of birds attending the new feeders. Chickadees were
the first, hopping on within minutes of the feeders going up, then Purple
and Goldfinches after a few days. It was almost two full weeks before Blue
Jays, Grackles and a squirrel found them. Saturday morning I was immensely
pleased to see a male *Red Crossbill* attending the feeders, and before we
left around noon, four females showed up.

On another note, at my parents' house in Roslin, Cumberland County, a large
*Black Bear* was seen yesterday (Sunday) at the field's edge, about 200 m
from the house. It was quick to scare, and took off into the woods at a
little shouting from my Dad.
