We watched for about 20 minutes. Only the raven's head was visible; on a number of occasions it kept its mandibles open for a minute or so. *Marshall Rd*. Red-eyed Vireo, Hermit Thrush, heard not seen. A first. Watched a Red-breasted Nuthatch working on the edges of an apparently, perfect, circle, entrance hole. Very neat work! The bird seemed to be putting the finishing touches on the circumference of the entrance, no rough edges in sight, tiny dimples in the wood, presumably caused by the tip of its bill. The tree was a maple, the limb it chose was about 15cm dia, broken off, dead. The rest of the tree was healthy. There were 2 other partial holes. Occasionally the bird would insert about 0.75 of its body then back out. A entrance fitting routine? *Utility road and trail north side of Paragon Golf Course* 5 Savannah Sparrows, Yellow-rumped Warbler, 3 Red-winged Blackbirds, Song Sparrows, A. Robins Cheers, Barbara and Pat ------=_Part_10058_5569058.1209926812945 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline <div>Hi:</div> <div><u>Pine Ridge Ave</u>;</div> <div>Common Raven Brooding(?) in a very large, visible nest near the top of a Pine Tree.</div> <div>We watched for about 20 minutes.
