Hi everyone: Suzanne asked me to pass this on to the list.

Hello atlassers and would-be atlassers!

There will be a workshop held at White Point Beach Resort near
Liverpool for all Atlas participants, and anyone who's thinking of
becoming an atlasser.

This workshop/conference will be on May 24th and 25th, and is being
sponsored by the NS Bird Society. It will mainly promote Region 18
(Shelburne County) and Region 19 (Lunenburg and Queens Counties).
Regional Coordinators Donna Ensor, Pete Hope and James Hirtle will be
on hand to give an overview of these great areas!

The meeting will start at 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 24th and will answer
such questions as how to atlas for difficult/elusive species, how to
complete your
square, which protocols are acceptable and which are not, and will also
answer any questions you bring to the table. Becky Stewart, Atlas
Coordinator, will be happy to address your concerns.

The meeting will be followed by a walk to listen and atlas for owls and
other birds heard at night. The next morning at 6:00 am there will be
a point count
demonstration. After breakfast there will be a choice of field trips
with pointers on how to record what you see for the atlas.

Everyone welcome!

To book your room for the night of May 24th, call: 1-800-565-5068. Be
sure to say you're with the Nova Scotia Bird Society to get a
discounted rate of
$120.00 for a double room in the Lodge or $135.00 for a one-bedroom
cottage on the beach. Rooms are being held for us until April 24th.
After this date, the special rate will still apply, but only if there
are rooms available.

Cheers;
Suzanne
