Hi George,

The only reliable way to distinguish a Little Brown Bat from a  
Northern Long-eared Bat is in the hand where you can check the length  
of the ear and of the tragus (the flap of skin in the middle of the  
ear). I don't think one could ever reliably distinguish between them  
"on the wing".
