Hi:
We have yet to see any of the messages that we have sent to NatureNS since
we Subscribed using Gmail about 2 weeks ago.
NatureNS members have told that they have seen the messages so we are
partially serviceable.
A neighbour of our daughter's family in the St. Margaret's Bay area has had
a Hairy Woodpecker make an entrance hole through their stucco siding. They
can hear the bird inside of the wall and can hear what they consider to be
more pecking.
From out of doors they have seen the Hairy WP come and go. I have suggested
they wait for a departure of one or more adults: then plug the hole.
They are concerned about eggs or hatchlings or a brooding female on/in the
nest.
I suggest that, if possible, they use a mirror to determine what is between
the walls after at least one adult leaves.
My suggestion has been, hope that their are no live birds other than the
adults at this stage. Plug the hole after it or they leave.
If NatureNS members have other suggestions please let us have them. Either
post them on NatureNS, perhaps we will see them. However, if you wish send
suggestions to barpat@ns.sympatico.ca or to pamcraig@eastlink.ca.
Thank you very much.
