Today at the feeder we have the smaller birds, A few chickadees, juncos,
including a number of juveniles and females. Sparrows include song sparrows
and white throats. Both the American tree and the fox sparrows have moved
on. There are a number of grackles moving in and out and a red-winged
blackbird but I don't think he is setting up housekeeping in the nearby
swamp. A solitary American Goldfinch and bluejays. Again the numbers are way
down. I have the big Crows, as well as a couple smaller ones, dropping by
from time to time and many Robins. I have two male Brown headed cowbirds and
what I think is a female cowbird. Charcoal grey, very even and a whitish
throat patch. A very pretty bird. Shy. I don't remember one being quite like
this.
This morning while we were in town, there were four tree swallows at one
light standard in the parking lot then 3 more up the hill a bit. I haven't
seen or heard any here in White Point yet. Still no hummingbird at the
feeders that I have noticed. The feeders were a bit slushy this morning. I
do believe I see one buzzing the Maple tree from time to time but am not
hearing any chitter.......I want to know what else it could be. The
woodpeckers are certainly making wells in the tree.
